Regular formatting allows your dash camera to write information more efficiently to the sd card, so it’s a good idea to do this once all the information on the card has been safely stored on a computer or cell phone.

There is no general rule how frequently a memory card should be formatted, but doing so about once a month should keep your memory device at is peak capacity for long, if you transfer & erase lots of photo, you might want to format the card more frequently.

It is recommended that you format your dash camera's memory card at least once a month.  This can be done via the on-screen menu on the dash camera, using the smart device app (where applicable), or via your computer with a card reader.
